On Saturday, August 8 about 200 kids and a dozen or so adults dressed in pirate attiure for Pirates in the Park Day, a cherished celebration of fun and silliness that made St. James Park a children's paradise for a Saturday morning.
All 200 registrations were filled by kids, who participated in the FREE Pirates in the Park Treasure Hunt in St. James Park! The Treasure Hunt was a big hit and sold out in advance.
Participants followed a treasure map to 14 different stations in the Park where they met pirates, got prizes, walked a plank, spun a ship’s wheel, found a message in a bottle and discovered other treasure.
Thanks to Jack and Jill Sardegna, who developed the idea and oversaw the festivities.
